
Plenary Meeting devoted to 5th anniversary
the Global Initiative to Combat Nuclear Terrorism (GICNT)
(June 29-30, 2011 Daejeon, Republic of Korea)
June 29-30, 2011 in Daejeon (Republic of Korea) was held Plenary Meeting of the Global Initiative to Combat Nuclear Terrorism (GICNT).
The meeting was attended by about 150 delegates from 54 partner countries and international organizations - official observers - the IAEA, the European Union, Interpol and the UN Office on Drugs and Crime. 
The Ukrainian delegation was represented by representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Anti-Terrorist Center at the Security Service of Ukraine, NNEGC «Energoatom» and Centre «LEX».

President of the United States and President of the Russian Federation appealed to the participants of the Plenary meeting with welcoming messages.
Presentations were made by U.S., Russian Federation, Spain, Korea, Netherlands, Australia, Morocco, Britain, Canada, New Zealand, and Ukraine. 
On behalf of Ukraine spoke representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Head of the Ukrainian delegation, he reported on the practical activities carried out in Ukraine, which correspond to the tasks and goals GICNT and requirements of international conventions.
General Director of the Scientific and Research Informational-Analytical Centre «LEX», made a presentation about the upcoming Sixth International Forum «Physical Nuclear Security – Counteraction Measures to Acts of Nuclear Terrorism» and reported on the Fifth International Forum «Physical Nuclear Security – Counteraction Measures to Acts of Nuclear Terrorism» which was conducted by the Centre «LEX» in November 2010 in Kiev under the aegis of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and in partnership with GICNT. 
Members of Ukrainian delegation to the Plenary Meeting made a visit to the Korean Nuclear Research Institute (KAERI).
Co-Chairs GICNT plan to continue to successfully interact with all members of the Initiative.
Next Plenary Meeting held in Mexico GICNT in 2013.
